Reflection on 2024

The year 2024 is already behind us for a while now, and therefore we would like to brief and reflect on what Network USP Inclusive has done and achieved last year.

  • Increase in membership: In 2024, 118 new members joined the network. As a result, Network USP Inclusive totaled 275 members on December 31st of 2024. This influx of new members is the largest increase to date.
  • Start of neurodiversity movement: over the past years, it has become increasingly clear that neurodivergent colleagues do not always identify with terms such as (work) disability or (mental) vulnerability. However, due to an increase in requests and inquiries related to neurodiversity, this topic was identified to warrant extra attention. Therefore, on October 16, 2024, we launched a neurodiversity movement. This movement will focus on creating awareness and forming a community around the topic of neurodiversity.
  • New activity: we introduced a new recurring activity in 2024: Meet & Eat! This activity is aimed at accommodating the expressed need for low-threshold, informal contact with other members of the network.
  • Improved visibility of the network: over the past year, we have received significantly more questions and accounts of personal experiences from employees, managers and HR-personnel within our three affiliated organizations, suggesting an increase in the network’s visibility. This is demonstrated further by a large increase in inquiries made by other external parties, such as those offering services, or seeking cooperation around relevant research.

Goals 2025

In 2025 we are yet again committed to increase awareness for those employees who deal with (work) disabilities, who are neurodivergent, who manage their work around a chronic illness or (mental) vulnerability, and to improve both their access to their working environment as well as their inclusion. Our specific goals for 2025 are as follows: increase our membership numbers, further shape the neurodiversity movement, set up a buddy system, develop promotional materials, constructing bookcases to facilitate exchange of relevant literature, set up a hotline ‘bottlenecks Utrecht Science Park’, explore expansion in the Utrecht Science Park and recruit ambassadors. • Meet & Eat! (8x)
