Sander Gerrits

Sander Gerrits
Hello everyone, my name is Sander Gerrits (he/him, they/them, 1984). I work at the University of Utrecht as an education and research assistant at Educational Development and Training. ED&T supports educational professionals in their ambitions, and I support those that support the educational professionals. My set of tasks is wide and varied; among other things I translate (NL-EN and EN-NL), do administrative work, work on privacy aspects (GDPR), and code. I also do scientific support work, for example by preparing reading lists or statistical analysis.
I started work at the UU via the Wajong as I have autism and chronic fatigue syndrome. As such, I know what it is to live and work with a disability. My personal experiences with it and those of people around me continually show that diversity, inclusion, and equity are important for being able to fully participate in society without any problems. The UU is no exception in this regard, good steps are being made, but sometimes an occasional reminder is needed. In my work and daily life, I am actively committed to increasing the visibility, awareness and acceptance of people with disabilities. I was asked to join the core team of Network USP Inclusive after having helped in one of the activities. After consulting with my supervisor, I accepted this invitation as the network’s goals were so seamlessly aligned with my own beliefs. Currently I support the network with event organisation and the GDPR.
You can always contact me about working with a disability and a sympathetic ear, but also on other subjects in the themes of diversity, inclusion and equity. I hope to see you at one of our events or online.
